Liquid eyeliner is great if you have a steady hand and want a precise, bold look.
Pros: Usually lasts longer, more dramatic, good for the diva-glam look
Cons: Hard to apply, have to wait for it to dry

Pencil eyeliner is for the novice or if you want to create a smoky look.
Pros: Easy to apply precisely, good for smudgy look
Cons: Sharpening is a pain, Doesn’t usually last as long as liquid

Many girls steer away from colored eyeliner because they just don’t know how or when to sport it. Colored eyeliner is definitely fun and a change from the standard, boring brown or black shades. Try it out! If you want a dramatic look, go for the red, yellow or orange tones. If you want a slightly less dramatic look, experiment with the cooler shades like purple, green, and blue. The following are MadameDaily’s tips on how to apply colored eyeliner:

First, Powder Up – Apply a translucent powder to lids, which will give your lids a matte finish and prevents the eyeliner from smearing. Do not apply colored eye shadow unless you really want to make a statement. Colored eyeliner is usually just enough!

Upper Lids First; Inside to Outside – Start with the upper lid inside corner to outer corner. Start with a thinner line and go thicker as you wish.

Next, the Lower Lids – Then apply eyeliner under your lower lashes. Again, start inside and move outward. It probably isn’t necessary to re-dip if you are using liquid eyeliner, since the color is potent.

Mascara? Just a Touch -Apply mascara after applying eyeliner. Keep mascara to a minimum.

Colored eyeliner is perfect for the upcoming bright Spring and Summer seasons. Steer away from the black and browns…Colors, here we come!

Have you ever been running out the door and snag your nylon on your not-so-filed nail? Or have you been at a party and someone spills red wine on you? These are typical occurrences that aren’t so easy to solve until you know the tricks of the trade. Here are the top 10 household product tricks:

Baby Powder for Greasy Hair: If you don’t have time for a shower but your hair is greasy, apply baby powder lightly to the strands and the oil will be absorbed. Don’t apply too much baby powder or it will look as if you have grey hair.

Removing Eye Make-Up with Baby Oil: If you run out of your favorite brand name eye make-up remover, no worries. Baby oil works just as well! Just apply baby oil to a cotton pad and your waterproof mascara, dark eyeliner, and shimmery eyeshade will vanish.

Clear Nail Polish to Fix a Tear in your Nylon: If you snag your nylon or tights on your way out and don’t have time to buy another pair, just apply clear nail polish at the end of the tear and it will stop it from running. We recommend you apply the nail polish as the nylons are on so it prevents from the snag running even more while taking them off.

Salt removes Red Wine Stain: Sprinkle generous amounts of salt on your stain immediately after the spill. Let the salt absorb the wine for about two to three minutes. Then dab the salt off with cold water. Rinse.

Ironing Wax Out of Fabric: If you get wax on your clothes, put a brown paper bag over the wax spot and iron. The wax will be removed from the fabric and stick to the paper bag.

Bag of Frozen Peas Reduces Swelling: Sprained your ankle? Have puffy eyes? The immediate response is put ice on it. However, what is better than ice is a bag of frozen peas as it molds to your body and provides an even icing.

Cucumbers Heal Dark Circles Under your Eyes: Many of you have probably seen Pond’s Cucumber pads, but why spend a hefty penny on that when you can use an actual cucumber. Cut thin cucumber slices, and place on closed eyes. It is very relaxing too!

Use Organic Tooth Paste to Heal a Pimple: Toothpaste (paste, not gel) can act as a mask and bring impurities out of the skin. Most toothpastes will work, but organic is best as it has limited ingredients which are natural. So if you do not have your pimple spot treatment, it’s definitely wise to use toothpaste.

Put an Onion on a Bee Sting: If you have a bee sting, a soothing remedy is to slice an onion and place it on the sting for about an hour. It works!

Apply Warm Olive Oil to Cuticles: For healthy, moisturized cuticles, soak your nails and cuticles in a small bowl of warm olive oil for 15 to 20 minutes. For best results, do it nightly for a week or two.

Check out these tips and you will be pleasantly surprised!

If powder doesn’t float your boat, one of the best liquid foundation products is Laura Mercier’s Oil Free Liquid Foundation. Sometimes people equate “oil-free” make-up with drying out your skin. This product is quite the opposite as it is non-drying and leaves your skin with a natural glow. With vitamins A, C, and E in this foundation, it nourishes the surface and protects the skin from the harsh affects of the environment. Laura Mercier’s Oil Free Foundation won’t look cakey due to its lightweight formula. You can layer this product to provide minimal coverage for daytime wear or solid coverage for your night out. It’s your choice! For even, long lasting coverage, we suggest you apply a primer before application and a translucent powder after application. This product is definitely worth checking out. Go to department stores for a trial.

How do I get voluptuous eye lashes similar to the model’s on the runway? How do I apply mascara without major clumps? What is the best way to maintain my mascara? We have all gone through an eye make-up application disaster. Here are some great mascara tips we live by and you will too:

Put on eyeliner first. It is hard to be precise if you have already put on your mascara.

Curl top eyelashes before applying mascara. For a tighter curl, run your eyelash curler under a blow-dryer for a couple seconds (don’t leave it under there for too long or else you will burn your eyelid when the metal touches your skin).

Use only one to two dips per eye only. If you use more, your mascara can become clumpy and can create an aging effect.

If you are going to apply more than one layer of mascara, wait until the first layer to dry to prevent eyelashes from clumping together.

Concentrate the mascara at the base of the lashes and slightly shake the brush up toward the tip of your lashes.

If you want your eyes to appear more rounded, apply more mascara toward the center of the lashes.

For best results, replace your mascara at least once every three months, if not every month. Prevent pumping the wand up and down in the mascara tube, as it dries out the mascara; instead, twist the wand to get more mascara on the brush

Do not share mascara (or eye liners). This is for health reasons.

Now, walk the runway of life just like those models do… Your eyelashes will grab everyone’s attention!

Finding the perfect mascara can be very difficult. We found two wonderful products that will provide the effect you want… It just depends on your mood! Go dramatic or go casual. We have it for you!

For the dramatic look with fabulous results, this is your product: Badgal Lash by Benefit. The thick brush bristles allow for full, voluminous lashes. The truly black color allows for the dramatic takeaway. Available at department stores or Sephora ($19).

For a softer look (and less strain on the wallet), we recommend Maybelline’s Great Lash Curved Brush Mascara in brown. The curved brush allows for full, lush coverage and brown is a little softer on the eyes. Great for pale skin tones or just a daytime look. (under $5 in drug stores)

Jane Iredale’s Mineral Pure Pressed Base Powder Mineral make-up is costly but definitely worth every penny! Great for all skin types (yes, even those with super sensitive skin). Dermatologist recommended… Jane Iredale’s Pressed Powder is perfect for everyday use. The semi-matte powder gives your skin a natural glow while providing SPF 20 sun protection. More importantly, it is one of the best make-up products for your skin as it is Non-comedogenic, anti-inflammatory, and made of intert minerals that cannot support bacteria. If you like a heavier coverage, use a primer or a liquid foundation base.

For best application, we recommend applying the base powder with the brush. The one challenge might be finding this product, as it is only sold in selective stores. Go to Iredale for store locations.
